Pre/Post Surgical Care

Surgery is major decision that many people have to face at some point.  At Katona Chiropractic, we are passionate about helping you come to the best decision for your health. Taking into account that each person is a unique individual, surgery is not always a blanket cure all. The same surgery may work for some but not for others.  Often there are many overlooked steps that are skipped between the pain symptom and the operating table, chiropractic care is one of the most important steps. We like to offer to our patients as many options as possible by doing a complete detailed assessment before surgery is performed.

If surgery has already been performed, Chiropractic is essential in helping the body heal. Having your nerves functioning properly is what your body needs to repair itself. Often after surgery, recovery time requires long periods of sitting or laying, crutches or immobilizing casts, and disruption in normal sleeping positions or movement patterns, all of these things can result in new and uncomfortable aches and pains that require chiropractic care.

Common symptoms:

  • Chronic pain
  • numbness/tingling
  • new symptoms appearing to be unrelated to surgery
  • Scar tissue
  • Decreased range of motion
  • failed surgeries
  • Sleep disturbances
  • loss of balance
  • weakness
  • difficulty walking
  • pain when sitting or walking
  • painful joints

Recommended treatment:

  • Specific chiropractic testing
  • temposcope
  • range of motion testing
  • blood pressure, height and weight
  • motion and static palpation
  • functional muscle testing
  • athletic/exercise history

Since 1990 I have treated many patients that have been through back surgery, carpal tunnel surgery, foot surgery, and many other types of surgery, only to have the problems still exist or symptoms return. In my years of practice I have seen proven again and again that most often the root of the problems actually stems from their back making these expensive and often damaging surgeries ineffective. Through careful analysis and special care with these cases I have helped many patients avoid surgery altogether or help their bodies to heal quicker after an operation has been performed.”
